New York

"What is it about your fashion capital (New York/ London) that makes it unique and interesting?

New York is driven by this very high energy, that you can feel as soon as you enter Manhattan. It is "the city that never sleeps" where people are constantly busy working, connecting, thinking, creating, and making money. It feels like the time here goes by so much faster than in any other place I have been and people are working twice as much. Most New Yorkers have their coffee to-go, sushi in a box ready to take them back to the office, they don't take vacation, no sick days or paid long hours. I feel like most people are moving to New York because they have their own huge dreams and goals that they want to accomplish here. Therefore it is very competitive. I believe New York is so unique and interesting in terms of fashion because so many people with different backgrounds, cultures, and life-styles are living here. There are the rich and the poor and everyone else in-between and that also shows in fashion. On this little island there are so many different worlds just one or two subway stops away from each other and the beauty, is there are no real boundaries. You can go down Madison and Fifth Avenue and check out all the Guccis and Pradas of this world and see the uptown ladies shopping in their mink coats. Or you can go to the East Village and stroll through some vintage stores and small designer boutiques and get inspired by the street fashion of some young people. That is just one example of the diversity that New York has to offer. This might be similar in other metropolitan cities but I feel like New york  is very extreme and central in this regard.
